2001 Futures Game

The third Futures Game was played on July 8, 2001 at Safeco Field. The only offense for the World came on a solo homer in the sixth by Wilson Betemit off of Jerome Williams, after the US had already built a 5-0 lead. Carlos Hernandez was the losing pitcher for the second straight year - he struck out the side in the second, but allowed two runs as well. LF Adam Dunn hit the game's longest home run, clearing the right-field bleachers, while C Toby Hall (2 for 3, 2 R, the game MVP) and 2B Chase Utley (2 for 3, 2 RBI) each homered, though they batted 8th and 9th for the USA team. Chris George was the winning pitcher.
